The Valley of Steel World Map

I decided to add this map to celebrate six full months of blogging. This marks the location of all the bands that have been reviewed or otherwise discussed in posts throughout this website. You can zoom in and out, and scroll in all directions, and if you click on one of the little markers it’ll show you the names of the band(s) in that city; but to see the full-sized and full-featured version, hit the link at the bottom of the page.

There’s a lot of empty space so far — I suppose we’ll have to do something about that, won’t we? I’m always looking for more suggestions of music to review or bands to write about, so if you know of something I’m missing out on, please get in touch!

  1. You should add China on the map! Here is some more info on what you could write about:

Rock in China Records is releasing CORE IN CHINA on May 15th 2012. We are a non-commercial underground website dedicated to making the Chinese music scene accessible in English.

CORE IN CHINA is a free online compilation of Chinese Metalcore, Deathcore, Nintendocore, Hardcore and Screamo bands that have been selected via an open song submission process from January to March 2012. The selected songs represent not only great music but are also to be seen as a snapshot of the current Chinese metallic underground. Bands from Beijing, Wuhan, Changsha, Taipei, Hongkong, Batou and Guangzhou participated in this unique record. Rock in China’s is promoting the compilation globally and first reviews have been posted in France, Australia, Shanghai and Beijing:

    • Hey Max, this is great! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for this information!

I have heard maybe one or two Chinese bands, but this is definitely an area I would love to explore and learn more about. I’m sure many of the people who read this blog will also be interested in getting more exposure to the music scene that is happening there.

I look forward to downloading and listening to the compilation… thanks again.

  2. Infernal hails dear people at The Valley of Steel

I looked through your map and you don’t have a single band from Iceland.

I want to introduce you to AZOIC which is an ambitious two-piece project from Iceland with members from local bands such as Atrum, Beneath & Offerings. The music is a fast, brutal hybrid of Black- & Death Metal with an individualistic atmosphere drawing influence from various genres.
If interested in listening to our upcoming debut album then just send us an email via azoiccontact@gmail.com
