Philip K. Discs – This Boombox is a Compilation (2026)

I know what you’re thinking, didn’t we just do this?

But just announced last week and currently available for pre-order, here’s some more craziness from the creative minds at PKD.

Philip K. DiscsThis Boombox is a Compilation (03 April 2026)

This experimental/noise label has done a compilation before, and they did some cool-ass artwork to accompany it. So of course the next offering would have to be something different and unique, right?

Normally I’d wait until something has been released, or at least available for you to stream, before writing about it here. But this case necessitates an exception since the physical edition of this collection will be available via pre-order ONLY. You can grab a copy of the new PKD compilation as a boring old digital download, and stick those MP3s in your boring old computer or boring old Bandcamp library or whatever boring old cloud service you use to store files.

But why do THAT, when you can instead receive a copy of all the comp’s tracks pre-loaded on the world’s most adorable miniature boombox! You can find more details (and ordering info) here, but basically, you’re getting new and exclusive songs on an MP3 storage device and player, shaped like a teeny little portable stereo system. How cool, huh?

The full track listing and final artwork has yet to be announced — so far there are just two preview tracks available by Tenebrae Annex and Open Casket Soundsystem, but expect a bunch more to be added by the end of the month when the pre-order period has elapsed. And as an added bonus, your mini boombox will start out naked, but you’ll be supplied with a bunch of tiny stickers featuring the record label’s logo as well as the participating artists, enabling you to customize the player however you choose!
