What’s up, readers! It’s Thanksgiving Eve, which around these parts is officially the BIGGEST party night of the year! That’s right, bigger than Saint Patrick’s Day, bigger than Cinco de Mayo, bigger even than New Year’s Eve.
Believe me, I spent enough of my younger years working overnight in a 24-hour convenience store — one that is famous for its “Made To Order” food, and in particular, one that was located in a small town where the ratio of bars to houses is practically one-to-one — so I’ve got enough empirical data to back up this claim.
Anyway, if you’re looking for somewhere to go tonight, I’ve got you covered. Just please be careful out there, and please be safe getting home! I’ve got lots of exciting new content planned for the near future, and you won’t want to miss any of it. (I know it seems like I’m making light of the situation, but seriously, go out and have a good time — but for your own sake and everyone else’s, just don’t be stupid, ok?)
Here we go…

It’s PLANKSGIVING!
with The Bloody Seamen, Mud City Manglers, and Supervoid
at Howlers Coyote Cafe
4509 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh (Bloomfield)
Wednesday 21 November 2012 | 9:30pm (8:30 doors) | $5 | 21+ only
Come and celebrate “Planksgiving” with Pittsburgh’s #1 pirate-rock band, The Bloody Seamen! (In case you missed it before, or you’ve forgotten, you can read the brief profile of the band that I wrote earlier this year.)
Also appearing will be two more excellent local bands, the Mud City Manglers and Supervoid — which should be all the reason you need to come hang out, but on top of all that, $2.50 Captain Morgan drink specials! RSVP here.

The Eighth Annual George Henry Evans Memorial Benefit Show
with Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Steel City Slingers, Fist Fight in the Parking Lot, Lungs Face Feet, Ragweed
at the Altar Bar
1620 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh (Strip District)
Wednesday 21 November 2012 | 8:00pm (7:00 doors) | $7 in advance OR at door | 21+ only
You can grab a ticket for this event here, but it has been announced that the price is the same either way. Not only do you get treated to a huge selection of local punk and rock music (all the bands listed above are scheduled to perform, plus bagpiper Doug Greer), but your donations benefit a scholarship fund for students of The Recording Workshop. RSVP here.

Turkey Bird Get Down featuring The Old E Allstars
at Thunderbird Cafe
4023 Butler Street, Pittsburgh (Lawrenceville)
Wednesday 21 November 2012 | 10:00 pm
Later in the evening, if you find yourself in the mood to chill out with some of the best funk music around, you might want to make your way over to the Thunderbird. Just remember this place fills up fast, so be sure to get there early to make sure you have a seat — especially considering that the giant Old E Allstars ensemble themselves will probably be taking up nearly half of the room as it is! Check out some of their tunes here, then RSVP here.
