I am pleased to pass along the news that Finnish deathstars Decaying are currently in the midst of recording tracks for their third album!
After their promising debut Devastate in early 2011, and the much-acclaimed Encirclement in January 2012 (reviewed here), this young trio is wasting no time putting together the follow-up, which they’ve titled The Last Days of War.
The record is set to feature eight tracks, expected to clock in at approximately 46 minutes, and will be due for release in early 2013 through Poland’s Hellthrasher Productions.
Decaying – Encirclement (2 January 2012, Hellthrasher Productions)
So remember way, way back in November, when this blog was still more or less in its infancy, I posted an announcement with details about Encirclement, the soon-to-be-released second album from Finnish death metal band Decaying?
If you missed that announcement, don’t feel bad — somehow I sort of let it slip away too. The January release date came and went, and I must have been distracted by something, because I didn’t actually get around to grabbing myself a copy of the album until just a few weeks ago. But it was definitely worth the wait, and I have listened to it countless times since then. And now, I’d like to share it with you.
Honestly, that first paragraph will be enough of a review for most people: Finland has built quite a reputation for having excellent quality metal, so as soon as you hear there is a new death metal album coming from that nation, your fingers are probably already itching to go click on that “order” button. But just in case you need just a little more convincing, keep on reading…
Mark your calendar – January 2, 2012 is set for the official release of Encirclement, the second album for Finnish death metal band Decaying. It will be made available by Polish label Hellthrasher Productions.
According to the band’s Facebook note (click here to read the whole announcement)…
The lyrics on the album are mostly handling specific events in the World War 1 & 2, but there is also other topics included. […]
You can expect over 60 minutes worth of extremely heavy & old school death metal in the vein of Asphyx, Bolt Thrower and Death, but with a twist! This is definitely an improvement over our first effort, Devastate. Stay tuned!
I’ve heard a couple songs from the band’s previous album on Death.fm, and I have to say, I am really looking forward to some new material from these guys!
