Canadian thrashmeisters Titans Eve, whose second album Life Apocalypse was released to huge critical acclaim back in July (at least from this particular reviewer) are now offering you the chance to download one of the tracks from that album for FREE!
(Also, at the end of this post, there’s a list of dates for the band’s upcoming European tour — after spending the past few months on the road going back and forth across Canada, first with Anvil and then Kill Devil Hill, now Titans Eve will be venturing across the ocean for the first time in support of Arch Enemy.)
So, if you haven’t already gotten a copy of Life Apocalypse — and I have no idea why you wouldn’t have, with brilliantly-written praise like this:
The eleven tracks that make up Life Apocalypse are 38 rock-solid minutes, from the gloomy instrumental “Overcast” that sets the mood for the impending doomsday, until the bombastic final notes of “The Void” stop reverberating. Along the way, we encounter plenty of thrashy goodness with overtones of speed, power, and traditional heavy metal.
Instead of simply trying to copy the sound of classic thrash bands — like so many seem content to do nowadays — it feels more like Titans Eve are drawing on all the same sources of inspiration as those earlier bands did, and then creating something new with it. The modern production and recording techniques allow individual parts to shine brightly, whether it’s the churning, grinding bass part in “Destined to Die,” the lengthy series of harmonized guitar licks that serve as an intro to “Hollow Gods,” or the slow, doomy riffs that introduce “The Abyss,” but everything still retains a classic old-school feel.
… anyway, if you still haven’t gotten yourself a copy of the album, you can grab the song “Destined to Die” for FREE (courtesy of SMNNews.com) from this location.
You can also still listen to the whole album (and buy the CD or MP3 versions as well as other band merch) at Bandcamp:
