Greek Metal Titans Septicflesh Announce New Album Codex Omega

Primordial, menacing and majestic; Septicflesh – the gods of orchestral extreme metal – return with their new album, Codex Omega. Available September 1, 2017 in North America on Prosthetic Records, Codex Omega will be available as a 2-CD set, on purple vinyl as well as a US indie retail store exclusive on white vinyl, and on all digital outlets. Preorders are up now and available right here.

“Dante’s Inferno,” the first track off Codex Omega, can be seen as a 360° video below.

The video was created by Tommy Jones at Videohammer studios. Guitarist Sotiris V. comments on the track, “We are proud to present the first track from the upcoming album, Codex Omega. The song is appropriately entitled ‘Dante’s Inferno,’ acting as a gateway to hell… as it was inscribed on the top of the Hellgate in the famous poem by Dante Alighieri, ‘Through me you pass into the city of woe; Through me you pass into eternal pain; Through me among the people lost for aye.’ This is just the first glimpse – the entrance to our new album. Stay tuned as more will gradually be revealed with the release date of our new album getting closer…”

Codex Omega was produced by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir) and features 10 tracks of their trademark blend of mystical atmosphere, relentless death guitar riffing and pale melodies. Lyrically and musically, Codex Omega is by far the most infernal release from Septicflesh to date. As a bonus, the CD and vinyl LP will come with an extra disc comprised of three orchestral tracks, once again featuring the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague.

Unsane: Legendary Noise Rock Trio to Release Eighth LP via Southern Lord

This news was kind of hinted at in our recent Fashion Week review along with this comment that lists the two bands’ combined tour dates, but here’s the official word…

Southern Lord eagerly confirms the label’s new partnership with legendary New York City-based noise rock outfit Unsane for the early Fall release of their eighth studio full-length, Sterilize.

Since 1988, Unsane has pounded the planet with their caustic grooves and foundation-crumbling riffs, having released LPs through a wide range of labels including Matador/Atlantic, Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, Ipecac, Alternative Tentacles, and others, not to mention a wide range of singles, splits, and live albums. The band’s gnarled blend of punk, metal, noise, and hardcore helping to define the “AmRep sound” alongside other forerunners of the style, Today is the Day, The Jesus Lizard, Helmet, Tad, Cows, Halo of Flies, Melvins, and others.

Closing a five-year gap since the 2012 release of their Wreck LP through Alternative Tentacles, Unsane makes a vicious return with the pummeling Sterilize, a record that recalls the most defining elements of the band’s seminal Scattered, Smothered, and Covered and Occupational Hazard albums, surging with the band’s unrelenting singular sound created by guitarist/vocalist Chris Spencer, bassist/vocalist Dave Curran (also in Pigs), and drummer Vinnie Signorelli. Sterilize was produced by Unsane, recorded by Dave Curran at Gatos Trail Studios in Yucca Valley, California, mixed by Andrew Schneider (also also in Pigs) at Acre in New York City, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago.

Sterilize showcases Unsane sounding as dense and damaging as ever, and sees them remaining as necessary as ever, nearly three decades since they began.

Southern Lord will release Unsane‘s Sterilize on September 29th, 2017.

Sterilize Track Listing:
1. Factory
2. The Grind
2. Aberration
4. No Reprieve
5. Lung
6. Inclusion
7. Distance
8. A Slow Reaction
9. Parasitic
10. Avail
