Following Being for the Benefit of Equality, Food Desert Recordings‘ fundraiser from earlier this summer in support of the transgender community (and especially trans youth) of Texas, the Maryland (USA)-based digital label is at it again.
Once again guided by their mission statement of “supporting charities that uplift and empower maligned communities,” this month a second benefit compilation has dropped, this time in support of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy, in light of a recent plague of legislation all over the country whose sole purpose is to restrict or remove those rights.

Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP) is the largest national, independent, nonprofit abortion fund. They provide urgently-needed financial assistance nationwide to individuals seeking abortion services or emergency contraception. WRRAP helps bridge the financial gap for women who seek an abortion or emergency contraceptives.
WRRAP ensures that financially-disadvantaged individuals of all ages, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations can access abortion care and emergency contraception. They provide funding for both medical and surgical procedures.
The surge of anti-abortion legislation has triggered more insurmountable financial barriers for thousands of individuals needing abortion care services. WRRAP‘s national presence uniquely positions us to alleviate potentially devastating geographic-based hardships for patients. And in the wake of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v Wade, WRRAP needs our help more than ever.

Editor’s note: regarding the name of the charity itself and the usage of the word “woman” and “her” pronouns in the paragraphs above, the WRRAP website does attempt to clarify that their “definition of ‘women’ includes transgender, genderqueer and non-binary people who are woman-identified.” I understand that this clarification actually seems to muddle things even worse, and still appears to exclude trans men and non-binary people other than those “who are woman-identified,” many of whom also may be in need of assistance with reproductive rights or more specifically abortion rights; however, given their assertion about assisting those “of all … sexual orientations [and] gender identities,” I am assuming that this is simply the result of a clumsy attempt at inclusion that uses some unfortunately awkward language.
