Hello again, folks. You might not remember, but last summer I was happy to report that Kongh, Swedish titans of heavy doom, had signed a deal with Polish label Agonia Records — and especially excited about the news that the band was working on a new album, their third overall!

Well, I haven’t forgotten — I’ve been excited about that news in the several months since then, and I’m glad to say, my most-anticipated album of 2013 is finally almost here!

That album, which will be titled Sole Creation, is scheduled to be released on the 5th of February (in Europe) and the 19th (in North America). But you can hear a small sample of it right now, and you can also pre-order a copy from the Agonia webstore…

An edited version of opening track “Sole Creation” — which includes just the first 7 minutes of the song — can be heard here:

To my ears, the drawn-out riffs and sparse inclusion of both sludgy and also semi-clean vocals sounds like they are staying in a fairly similar vein to parts of this album’s predecessor, Shadows of the Shapeless — which I certainly have no complaints about!

Kongh frontman David Johansson said,

After a very long time of hard work, this album is finally ready for release. We couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out and I really think it is the best Kongh material so far. For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. In my opinion, the album is more dynamic and has much more emphasis on melodies than our previous works. At the same time it maintains the harshness, and it’s undoubtedly the heaviest slab of metal we’ve done as well.

With a total running time around forty-five minutes, spanning across four tracks, the album will consist of the following songs;

1. Sole Creation
2. Tamed Brute
3. The Portals
4. Skymning

Sole Creation can be pre-ordered, both on CD and on vinyl, right now at the Agonia Records webshop.
